The following activities took place in the Junction Community in response to quarantining, social distancing, and other COVID-19 restrictions:
  • Prepared meals were delivered to elderly shut-ins from March until the end of June
  • Prepared meals were made available, some delivered from March until July 10
  • Masks, gloves, sanitizer were made available at distribution centers; also delivered to community residents with limited transportation
  • Food continues to be grown in the Blum Street Community Garden which residents can pick or which can be delivered to residents with limited transportation
  • Pizza Parades took place on Sunday afternoons with deliveries to large families
  • Packaged water was delivered to community members whose water had been shut off until City of Toledo resumed water service because of COVID needs
  • Neighborhood canvassing groups distributed information and news to all
    residences, youth worked with community organizer
  • Technology assistance was provided to business to assist in connecting with
    funding made available to small business
  • Technology assistance and ZOOM training was provided to community members
    for meetings and effective communication with distance family members
  • ZOOM accounts were created for neighborhood businesses
  • Residents were provided with financial assistance for paying bills, preventing
    arrears
  • Residents were provided with information regarding needed home repair
  • Communication and the sharing of needed information is one of the major goals for the Junction Coalition in building community and enhancing quality of life for Junction Community residents.
